7th Annual PCY Dads Tournament

The 7th Annual PCY Dads Tournament was a great success! We had 40 players with lots of good barbecue and competition. Champions Jeremy Warner & Chris Yee beat John Clark & Josh Wrobel for a flip flop of last year's finals. The winning team had to take the former champions down twice as they came out of the losers bracket of the double elimination format. It was an exciting finish! We also raffled off 4 great sets of bags and I was lucky enough to win my first set of Ultra Vipers. I now see why they get so much hype amongst the pros!

Now onto the 2nd season of the La Canada Conrhole League. The LCCL season 2 will be starting up this summer with the same casual vibe that we had in Season 1. It will likely go through the summer and extend into 2024. It looks like we will be on a 2 year season schedule as we are still trying to secure more venues that can accommodate 20+ players on a regular basis. A sport court or a big backyard is perfect for events as it can support at least 4 sets of boards. If you know of anyone that may be interested in hosting, please let me know.

       Here are some requirements and expectations for a venue to host:

            - Enough space for 3-4 sets of boards. Flat surface and each court should measure 35 ft x 10 ft

            - Willingness to host 20+ players. Food and drink will be organized by players, not the host.                 

            - Neighbors that are understanding of a bit of noise in afternoon & evening events

            - A bathroom that can be used by players during the event.

            - No equipment needed. We will bring all of the boards, bags & scoreboards

If you are interested in joining the league (or know someone who is), please let me know. I will be updating the email distribution list which will be the primary method of communication. My only ask is that if you join, be respectful of other players and try to help out in anyway that you can (setup, takedown, food or drink organization, etc). This league is only as good as the players that participate and make it what it is.

The 8th Annual PCY Dads Cornhole Tournament was a great success! It couldn't have been a more beautiful Spring day for a day of Cornhole, music, BBQ, and raffle excitement. Splitting the top teams had a clear impact on improved parity in the run up to the trophy. But in the end, experience won out as two former winners went 1 & 2 with their new teammates. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to the PCY PTA. 9th Annual PCY Dads Tournament - Results

The 9th Annual PCY Dads Cornhole Tournament was a great success! The rain and wet bags couldn't put a damper on the atmosphere amongst the guys. Jerry cooked up some great barbecue and new (younger) players gave a feel that maybe the next generation is ready to take over. But judging by the results, the OGs aren't ready to give up the mantle just yet... The level of competition is getting fiercer with each event. And we have a new name to add to the trophy (Nick) with a few repeat performers: Champions:       Nick Mastroianni & Josh Wrobel Runners-Up:     John Clark & Matt Purdy The trophy will be updated and put back in The Proper until next year's event.
